Maggie Holt returns to a home she and her terrified family left 25 years ago, vowing never to return. A rambling Victorian estate, houseful of snakes, dead bodies in the attic, creepy nighttime happenings — What’s not to love about this book?

This started off really strong, than it got ridiculous. I found it underwhelming and not my cup of tea. I also thought Maggie’s character was really one dimensional.

I can see this being a really successful tv show or movie. Definitely one of the better ghost /horror stories I have read that are not by Steven King. I'd love to see Mike Flanagan get his hands on it, this is right up his alley.

Kind of boring. I’m realizing I’m not a fan of haunted house story’s.

well, this was a full on rollercoaster. Some of the details, especially in the beginning, were a shameless copy of Haunting of Hill House. Didn't dig that. That set aside, I enjoyed reading the book, it was entertaining and easy to read. But towards the ending the author literally slaps a series of twists in your face and it's more exhausting than exciting
