Second book of Twisted Tales I've read. I'm just not a fan...I bought the boxed set of 3 so I have one more to go. I will not be buying more of this series.

Some of the prose was a little clichéd, and the dialogue didn't quite land (in particular the genie, it's difficult to write lines for such an iconic voice) but overall, it was an interesting read for an older Disney fan

This book was okay.
The first part was quite similar to the beloved Disney film.
After Aladdin finds the lamp though, instead of him finding the Genie, Jafar does. And you can only imagine how well that went. The story definitely took a dark turn after that. With the death of the Sultan and zombie soldiers, it’s nothing like the much loved classic film. Of course that’s the point, but it didn’t make me love it.
The one thing I was completely behind was the portrayal of Jasmine. She’s always been a strong female character, but she’s actually shown in this book taking a leadership role and leading her people to freedom. You don’t see that in the original.
Overall, it was just okay. I wouldn’t read it again and definitely prefer the original story.

This was enjoyable, but you can tell the author/Disney reps were still getting the “twisted tale” thing under their feet.
