i have no idea why i dnf’d this book the first time round but i LOVED it on the second read-
the difference was most likely just my tastes and just me in general changing so much, cause it’s been five years since
but UGH this was incredible- it’s honestly everything i love in a thriller stuffed into one book

"Compartimos eso. Cicatrices, conocimiento y una seguridad perdida que nunca tuvimos de buen comienzo, porque ambos nacimos para ser manzanas podridas".
This was such a fun book! I loved the short chapters and fast pacing. The switch back and forth between the intensity of the bank robbery vs the flashback scenes was always keeping me on my toes. I loved Nora and Wes so much. Iris was... not for me. But Nora was everything.

One of the best thrillers I've read in a long time, with so much complexity and so many layers that are peeled back slowly to reveal an amazing story of love, family and survival.

Super book. Lovely incidental queer rep. I do like books which focus on LGBT+ identities but it's also super-important to have queer characters whose sexuality/gender is only incidental to the story and this is done perfectly here. Nora is an epic character and I was really drawn in. I found the 'here's what I'm working with' list at the beginning of lots of chapters to be very tiresome in audiobook form, but looking at the hard copy it seems less irritating. Like, it's fairly unbelievable as a story but it's fiction so I think that's allowed.
