2.5 stars.

You know those really strange dreams that are super confusing once you wake up but feel completely logical when you're in them? That was this book.

The atmosphere was the best part, kind of creepy, but the story had pacing issues and I have a lot more questions than answers.

A lush dark & edgy modern-day fairytale with an angsty & angry main character

I am not a big fantasy person. I only read this for book club. I was not paying attention half the time cause it’s just not a genre that interests me. But it wasn’t badly written, and had a decent plot. Also the part with finch shocked me. And the supernatural references, I’m a sucker for that. “Don’t quote me to me.”

Language and mature content, plus the very dark direction made this a dnf. The main character also was unkind and unlikable. It was supposed to be a book to enjoy listening to in the car with my teenage daughter while driving to school every day but we decided pretty quickly it was not the book for us.
