challenging emotional sad fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This author clearly thinks out of the box. A body journal, what a great idea! Prior to starting this I was afraid that it would quickly become boring that is because I forgot how much everything we live is related to our bodies. Our hurts and pains, our particularities.
The journal doesn't only talk about the narrator himself, we learn about his family, his doctors and friends through what happens to their bodies as well.
The narrator has this quirky, childlike quality: he is always making experiences with himself. It seems as though he never stops to analyse and discover his body. It reminded me that my body isn't per say, who I am. So perhaps it could be a particularly good book to read when you are young and not quite yet acquainted with your carnal envelope, or for anyone who is at war with themselves, to learn to see every part of them with new eyes.

Altogether it is an interesting little book, touching at times, with strong time references and ingeniously written.

Sidenote//spoiler-ish: another gay character down. Another white male author that still thinks it's okay to casually use the word "nigger".

Ah Daniel, Cher Daniel!

It feels strange to read someone's diary.
It does not have description of planetary events. It describes changes outside through personal changes. It also has multiple little personal secrets that make it even more personal and believable.

I couldn't finish the book, I didn't want them all to die.
