Three women of very different backgrounds have their lives thrown together when a hurricane hits Key West in the 1930s. I liked each of the character's stories and also enjoyed reading about the experience of being in a hurricane.

Amidst all the suffering, the major problems are solved by violence, which is a little problematic. But I enjoyed the stories and the interweaving of these characters lives. I found Sam and John a little too interchangeable at times.

📚 The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton

I leave for a vacation that includes Key West in 11 days and wanted to read something on theme. I didn’t love the last book I read by this author, but this one was great. A quick read based on the devastating Labor Day Hurricane that hit the Florida Keys in 1935. In this story three very different women’s lives intersect on the days leading up to the storm. The characters were great, the history fascinating, and the storyline was fast paced and hard to put down. This one was a winner. I’m glad I gave Chanel Cleeton another chance. Now I really can’t wait for my trip!! 🚢 🌴 🍹

A great, quick read that has a few characters who are assumed to be earlier relations of characters in Cleeton’s prior novels but work wholly well as a stand alone book. I love how the varying perspectives and stories let different elements of the story come to life and found myself surprised at several elements throughout the journey.

Another enjoyable book from Chanel Cleeton. I loved these characters so much and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Perez Family books.

I don't give very many books 5 stars but this one was remarkable. The lives of 3 women intersect during a hurricane in 1935 Key West. The author did such a great job of character development. There were some twists that were a tad bit predictable but overall I highly recommend this book.
