I was told to read this book, and I honestly do not regret it. This book had an unexpected plot twist that honestly shocked me. I believe this is the only book I’ve ever read where the mc’s mental health is believable, and also not stereotyped based off of what the internet says!

this was going great up until that stupid twist. i really hated the way the writer handled it.
we realize the main character of the book has been hallucinating another character in the book this whole time, almost for half a year she has been thinking that this person was right beside them, she was talking to them and acting like they were flesh and blood. how does her psychiatrist react to this news? she makes a life lesson out of it. she tells sam it's a good thing. how does the book deal with this? the book says it might be a side effect of the medication she is taking. how does the goddamn book end? with sam hallucinating ONCE AGAIN and saying "oh, i don't need you anymore" to the hallucination, which (i guess?) just disappears. so... she has a serious problem here, right? she hallucinates even after they deal with her medication which should be a problem. oh wait, the scene was only there so we would think sam is finally /normal./
but hey, i wish we could say "i don't need you anymore!!" to our illnesses and they would just disappear.
the cheesiest way to end a book. what the hell.

Rating⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.7)
It was a great book overall especially the PLOT TWIST The book overall and the lesson made this book so wonderful and the high school experience got to me but the ending and some parts in the story felt missing like her story was incomplete so that’s why I rated this book 3.7 stars.

Spoiler
but it just felt incomplete especially AJ never saying I love you back and it seems so significant to their relationship and her fixation with 3 it seems like it would’ve been the perfect thing to end on but I get its also supposed to be more about Sam and not her relationship. Also I feel it’s kind of weird AJ is starting to meet these important people in her life but we don’t see Sam get to meet his brother or his mom and get their reactions to putting the pieces together I loved her character development but I felt there should’ve been more to the “Poets Corner” like they could’ve written a letter or a poem to Caroline’s parents explaining how their daughter has helped generations of students at that high school and ended the book on opening clubs in school like “Carolines Corner” throughout the county or something more significant then ending on Sam writing a poem for Emily and Caroline coming back for a brief second.naileycormier's review against another edition

Like i’ve previous mentioned i’m usually not a big fan of YA…but this one is an exception! I absolutely recommend! The way it touches bases with mental heath (anxiety and OCD), really make a girl feel seen! Recommend researching triggers before hand but a beautiful story either way!

I found the book to be alright. I sadly wasn’t as into it as I thought I would be but the plot kept me reading on until I finished.
