the start of this was genuinely really good but then the focus stopped being on character dynamics and starting being on the corporate/cult stuff which was boring as shit. the plot became nonsense during the last 20% and the ending was ??? like ok i guess….
also, the fact that ezra could not get over orson was genuinely ridiculous and ezra became such an annoying wet blanket of a character as the book progressed.

Setting: New York
Rep: gay protagonist with visual issues
I read this as an audiobook over quite a long period of time as I'm in a bit of a slump and I did enjoy it, but I found all of the characters to be thoroughly unlikeable and some plot points (like the fictional country) seemed a bit odd. The protagonist was so unbearable especially with how ignorant he was about his obvious and painful eye condition, refusing to take medication despite it getting worse. I found him very irritating!
