Wonderful reminders for the Christian life. Started this on the first day of lent and listened to a chapter a day. This one is worth keeping for re-listen!

I think it's ironic that I've read this book...considering my views on religion now. Not very convincing.

Clear cut message. I went into the book when I was struggling as a christian and I came out feeling more clear than I ever had been. My purpose on earth is something that I have thought about forever. Now I know My purpose. I know who I belong too and I also know my purpose to spread God's love and teaching... I am a witness for the Kingdom.

This book is meant to be read as devotion over 40 days but I just read it like I would a normal book, so I guess I didn't get the full benefit of the book. At first, I refused to read this book because it was just so hyped up years ago and only just recently, I could read it without feeling being forced to do so. The format that it's written is good for devotion but you do have to make time as some of the chapters are quite long and will take time to absorb. As it is, whilst I learnt quite a bit, they're a-jumble in my head - which I'll have to sort through soon. This book will definitely impress in you the purpose of your life - why we are created and what for.

Worth reading. I don't really disagree with this message, but the blurb
on the jacket comparing it to My Utmost For His Highest isn't realistic.
I'd maybe compare this to one of the Bill Gothard books.

On one hand, Rick Warren comes across as wanting to be someone who brings people together. On the other, he is the pastor of one of the largest right-wing mega-churches in the country. In this book, he brings the softer side to bear, urging people to find their place in God's plan.

I guess that I am on the wrong side of the political spectrum to endorse this book, even though I am an active member of a church. The only reason I read this book was because it figured in a trial I was working on. I think that Warren is a likable guy, but his brand of Christianity is not for me.

This book was simple but instrumental in my first couple of months walking with Christ.
