I absolutely loved this one. Character, story, imagery. Could get enough.

A lovely story. I am always thrilled to read historical fiction about an era and/or location I know little about, and Peach Blossom Spring filled me with some cultural and factual knowledge in an effortless and, again, lovely way.

Would be a great choice for a book club read as it is a perfect balance of history, storytelling, trauma, and love.

This is the life story of Renshu. He was born in China, immigrated to Taiwan, and finally ended in the US. He and his mother had many trials along the way and was always supported by his mother. I thought the story was kind of draggy in places but the story line was good.

I liked this story that follows a mother and son as they flee war and must find themselves in new places and among new faces. The themes of identity, family, racism, community, politics, and love are quite familiar, however the author doesn't do much in terms of differentiating her story from any other that covers a similar history.

A beautiful multi generational story, with deep moments of loss and sadness, but also of hope and love. I loved the scrolls and story’s told from mother to son throughout their journey.

Powerful historical fiction with sensitively written insights on generational trauma and ethnic and racial identity issues.
