I think I am going to be thinking about this book for some time. If you are in the mood for a "good for her" book, this will give you something to chew on. It takes a very cynical approach to family, maternity and relationships, and I say that as a cynic about those things myself.

I haven't read Nightbitch, but I thought the premise would be similar in its body horror aspects. I was wrrong.
I wonder if she turned into a Harpy at all, or if this was some larger allegory for self-harm and suicidal ideation.
I wish I had a book club.

Never seems to go anywhere. Ending is too ambiguous to be effective. Character development was great.

This book wasn’t something I had specifically set out to read. I had picked it up at random off of a shelf in a local bookstore, the beautiful cover catching my attention.
I stood there and read the first few pages and decided to take it home, and I am definitely not disappointed.

I was really captivated by Lucy’s obsession with the harpy, and thought it was a really brilliant choice to use the harpy as an expression of how Lucy perceived herself.
The reason it didn’t quite reach four stars for me is: while I enjoyed the ending and liked the poetic nature of it, I almost felt like it was missing something, and it seemed weather abrupt.

Could’ve easily finished this one in one sitting.

Short read and written beautifully.

The ending was a bit abrupt but liked that it kept it up for interpretation. Characters weren’t very likable (cheating, emotional abuse, physical abuse, lying, etc…) but you could still see a hint of truth to their perspective (albeit a VERY small sliver).
