An unusual book - a sort of horror story, and also one of a boy who gains courage and self acceptance. Not my usual, but I literally read it in one sitting - you get to the point where you can't put it down. Target age is older elementary school, and middle school.

The book just didn't resonate with me. I found the narration a bit slow and the ending underwhelming/incomplete.

Wow. Pretty disturbing for a middle-grade novel. I would've loved to have read this as a kid. I was having flashbacks to "The Shining" and the movie "My Girl" while reading it. Terrifying!
