Modern day Mills & Boon
Description of the Tsumami felt quite light & glossed over but I had read many first hand descriptions - maybe too horrific to be captured in a fictional novel
Wanted to know what happened next to Krista & Marti
A beautifully written story that captures the tragedy of the Boxing Day Tsunami and the hopelessness that so many endured, the indiscriminate loss of life, the devastation of communities. But at the heart of the story are important contrasts, bringing the relatively unknown plight of the Moken people, the sea gypsies into focus as their culture is eroded and marginalised in the face of development and modern day society and the tourist dollar in Thailand. And the contrasts between a young Moken boy and an English girl, caught up in the tsunami and brought together in the most challenging of circumstances.
Where tragedy casts its dark shadow, kindness shines the light of hope.
