Creepy and thrilling! I live in Michigan and it was awesome to read about places up North that I’d like to visit or have visited. Great tale of resilience & perseverance.

The main character was so unlikeable that this book wasn’t a fun read for me. I know she was a victim, but so was her mom. The fact Helena never saw her as one even years after they were rescued was insane to me. And although I’m certain that amount of trauma has a huge impact on how she perceived her parents, she never seemed willing to work though it post-rescue. Annoying.
