The delightful story of Eddie Winston, 90 years old, and his new found friend, Bella, 24. Eddie works at the local thrift store, happily living a quiet little life, but always wondering, in the back of his mind, whatever happened to a long lost love from years gone by. When Bella discovers Eddie has never been kissed, she makes it her mission to find Eddie love & off on adventures they go.
This was a lighthearted and quick read, heartwarming, and as cozy as it gets. An excellent palate cleanser if you are between heavier or more complex books, it is sure to make you smile.

Absolutely delightful. I didn’t want it to end, because I need Eddie in my life!
This was absolutely adorable!! I loved loved LOVED the ending. I was fairly distracted while listening to this, so I wasn’t able to enjoy it as fully as I would’ve liked. That being said, the characters were so endearing and the story was so lovely. Highly highly recommend!

I loved everything about this book. If you like other Marianne Cronin books, you’ll really enjoy this. Her writing is light, fun, and totally beautiful. This book follows the journey of Eddie looking for love, and the journey of friendship. Shows how friendships know no bounds.

When I first heard about Marianne’s second novel, which also explores a cross-generational friendship, I knew I was going to love it just as much as her debut, 100 Years of Margot and Lenni.
In this story, we meet 90 year old Eddie Winston, a retired academic who now spends his days volunteering at a charity shop. Eddie meticulously sorts through the belongings of the recently deceased, donated by their families, searching for not only their monetary but their sentimental value too. It’s here that he meets 24 year old Bella, who is deeply grieving a loss of her own. Despite their differences, a surprising and unlikely friendship blossoms between them.
Upon discovering that the charming Eddie has never been kissed, Bella makes it her mission to help Eddie find someone worthy of sharing his first kiss, a journey that also helps her navigate her own grief.
Eddie is full of personality, he has lived and loved like no other, so we are taken on a journey back and forth between his younger days and the present day, to find out how he’s lived his days without a single kiss.
The novel features multiple points of view, which add depth to the story and brought it all together.
While there are bittersweet moments throughout, this book was heart warming and uplifting. I admire Marianne’s ability to highlight her characters’ quirks without resorting to clichés, making them feel real and endearing, flaws and all. It’s not only a cute little read though, as i explores grief, love and true friendship.
This novel is set to release on Thursday, and if you haven’t pre-ordered a copy yet, I really recommend doing so! There’s a Guinea pig called Pushkin and a ragdoll called Ferris, so if that doesn’t convince I don’t know what will.
