Kate Middleton fan-fiction meets soap-opera. Not bad.

It went on, and on, and on, AND ON… I’m not sure how I managed to finish

First I want to say that royal romances are not usually my thing, so my low connection to this book might be just that. This book was entirely too long for what it wanted to accomplish. I think it being two books would have flowed better than them combining all of this into one book.

An interesting story inspired by the monumental love story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the two protagonistst could not communicate effectively with each other which created quite a mess. Personally, I missed some commentary on the stance of the monarchy in today's world and Rebecca's "Princess-Make-Over" was rather one-dimensional.

Soooooo good.

I thought I would be okay with reading a book that was inspired by William and Kate, but make no mistake, this is barely disguised. In reality, what I thought would be a light and funny read felt oddly uncomfortable and hypocritical by the time I finished. That's not to say it isn't enjoyable or funny - the cast of characters are all fleshed out and witty. It really is a page turner. If this book had attempted to create a bit more distance from their real life counterparts, it would have worked, but some parts are just too close to real life to truly enjoy without feeling voyeuristic - you cannot write a book criticising royal voyeurs when you're part of the problem.
