This book was kind of like reading an autobiography of Princess Kate and Prince William....but it is not. It's fiction, but it is so much like the Royal Family that it kind of freaked me out a bit, down to the stern Queen Eleanor (Elizabeth) the physically there but mentally gone mother Princess Emma (Princess Diana), the absent, disciplinary father Prince Richard, or Prince Dick as his sons call him (Prince Charles), the playboy Uncle, Prince Edwin (Prince Andrew), the stern older aunt Prince Agatha (Princess Anne), the playboy younger brother who resents being the "spare" Prince Freddie (Prince Harry) and the Royal Couple Bex (Kate) and HRH Prince Nick (William). Seriously. It was like reading a fictionalized version of The Crown. And as I love The Crown, I loved this book. I found it delightful, and almost a guilty pleasure as I feel badly for the Royal Family and the Paparazzi, but also love to find out the latest gossip from "over the pond". I enjoyed this book and am excited to read the second one....the Heir Affair! Maybe Prince George (named something else) will make a cameo.
As much as Bex claims not to be interested in Nick just because he's a prince... he sure doesn't have almost any other personality traits to be interested in...
I knew I would enjoy this book before I even read it because the girls from Go Fug Yourself are a hoot. Their blog commentary on famous fashion and their hilariously witty TV recaps are always a joy to read. Their on-going fictional interpretation of the real Royals' pictures is always amusing, and you can see that reflected in this book (for example, they are convinced that Prince Harry is a little in love with Kate), which reads as an alternate tell-all inside story of Kate and Will. I also definitely spied a few shout-outs to readers of their blog throughout the book's plotlines.
This book is hefty but there is a lot going on, and I was glued to the pages as much as was socially acceptable throughout this weekend. If you're looking for a book that's fun but also has plenty of heart and substance, check it out!

I have quibbles about the debauched middle and some of the twists and turns that characters make in order to serve the plot but when it comes down to it, I dove right into this book and stayed there until the end and was sorry to leave the world and the characters.
Fun and funny and a little too much overwroughtness among characters. But cute. It almost makes me want to like Prince Harry, not not quite.
