Wild and Wrangled

Lyla Sage

4.01 AVERAGE

Lyla redeemed herself after the last one but also like why did they even like each other there wasn’t much evidence

Camille Ashwood had always loved a plan. Her latest was her best yet. She was going to get married so she could secure her daughter’s future, get her overbearing parents off her back, and finally start building her own life in small-town Meadowlark, Wyoming. Easy, right? But when her groom doesn’t show up to the wedding, I Cam’s life is turned upside down—she doesn’t even have a place to live. That is until she finds out the house she’s loved since high school is available to rent. There’s only one problem: the neighbor. Dusty Tucker has spent nearly all of his adult life running. Running from what, though? More like who: Cam Ashwood. But ever since he returned home last year, the girl who was his first, well, everything has become a woman seemingly determined to keep him at arm’s length. And he was okay with that—at least, that’s what he kept telling himself. She was getting married, after all. But now she’s single and living next door. Dusty wants to show her that they can be friends, and that he can stay put. Despite her best attempts to stay far away from Dusty Tucker, Cam realizes that being close to him is like slipping into her favorite jeans. Easy. Comfortable. That is until past wounds start to open and feelings—both old and new—wreak havoc. Nearly ten years after they first met, Dusty and Cam begin to wonder if their first love can also be their last. And this time, will it be forever?

Thoughts
Another series wrapped up and I had been waiting for this story. You didn’t get to know Cam and Dusty too much in prior books and they definitely hid their background well so that you had a lot to discover in this book. It wasn’t a deep read, they honestly didn’t have that much trauma or baggage to work through but it was a fun read and good ending to the Rebel Blue series.

I love this series so much. For me, it toes the line between idyllic and realistic perfectly. I want to believe that the love in these books exists. I want to escape into a world with low stakes and hot cowboys.
I loved that Cam and Dusty’s story took us through flashbacks of their high school. Their story felt inevitable in the best way.

3.5 round up! This was sweet — second chance and all that. Incredibly predictable but Lyla Sage’s writing is easy to read thru so quick! Dusty was all in the whole time I was glad Cam didn’t resist it too hard but the third act “conflict” was laughable (I actually laughed) bc just be so fr. I did appreciate how much time we spent with them actually being with one another unlike other books that give us absolute crumbs. Loved the little surprise at the end that brought us the conclusion of our pals in book one

This is the last book in this series. I have enjoyed them all. I think this one is mid compared to some of the others. I liked it though. I was hoping for more of a wrap up for the whole family in the epilogue.

📖 Dusty and Cam were high school sweethearts who broke up when Dusty moved away and Cam stayed to build a stable life for herself. Now he’s back, and even though they’re trying to keep their distance from one another their chemistry is undeniable. When Cam’s fiancé leaves her at the altar, Dusty and Cam find themselves being drawn together.

💭 I love this series. I’m sad to be saying goodbye to the Ryder family. This is the fourth book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series. I really liked Cam and Dusty’s story. I always enjoy a good friends to lovers romance. It’s so sweet to see a friendship blossom into something more. I did get a little frustrated at times that they wouldn’t just talk to each other, but overall it was such a sweet slow burn.
