You know that very rare occurrence when you think to yourself "he is just too good for her"? Yeah this was me throughout the whole book.
It honestly felt like the author just wanted to wrap up this story with minimal explanation and move on. I read the authors note at the beginning of the book in which she said she was not really ready to say goodbye to this series but this book showed something completely different.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Cam and Dusty, this was your book, but why did all the secondary characters shined brighter than your relationship. At first, the flashbacks were so cute and they were setting up the story to reveal this grand mystery as to why they broke up at 18, and then we learned......*drumroll* that she missed the comfort of her life and was not built to be "slumming it" as a backpacker with him. It obviously had more to do with her not seeing a future in which they both got what they wanted, but the way she just grabbed her things and left him while he was at work made it seem like he was just not good enough for the girl with the trust fund. Now cam is 30 years old, a mother and lawyer, and she still seems to not deserve Dusty's unbreakable devotion. I can't even tell you what her love language is because she did not give him gift, she barely reassured him that she loved him, she barely communicated, she avoided him, she did not do acts of service for him, she just....existed, and that is sometimes fine, as long as your personality can make up for it, which it did not. Her only personality, is still wanting to be the perfect daughter for two parents who probably wouldn't care if she lived or died, and on top of that, we never get a resolution about them, we never got a big confrontation scene or any indication that they existed beyond creating a scene in which Dusty stands up to them for her and then she gets so hot and heavy over that, that it leads to their physical reconciliation as adults, then poof, parents and sister never mentioned again (and this happened 60% into the novel).
The third act break:
OMG WHAT A STUPID REASON. She broke up with him for 48 hours because he bought her a house, and then she "forgave" him because he signed the deed of the house over to her???? I mean come on
This was three stars because of Dusty (a perfect man), Blue ranch, Riley, Gus and Teddy, Emmy and Brooks, and the dad. That's it. - 2 stars because of Cam

Probably my least favorite from the series, but still cute!
I felt like it was going nowhere and I became bored.
