This gets four stars for one reason: It broke my reading slump.

Did I actually LOVE it? Not really. But it was engrossing. There were so many plot holes and so much that didn't make sense and the action scenes were semi-boring but DANG IT WAS ENTERTAINING even if it was the tropiest superhero story I've ever read.

Good GRIEF why does NO ONE ever figure out the secret identities? Like...COME ON.

Anyway...I'm in no particular rush for Supernova? But I'll definitely be reading it. Mostly for Max. Because Max is adorable. And I kinda want to see him open up and USE that power.

Absolutely nothing happened in this book, so what was the point of reading it, again?

Still better than Renegades though.

I really like the story. I love the characters. But I’m slowly coming to realize that I’ve read two books in this series and nothing actually happens. Nothing. The books just push us along with the idea that something big is going to happen, and it doesn’t. The characters are still in the same place they were when you started.

Alas, I have faith in Queen Meyer. I will finish what I started with the last book and hopefully feel satisfied.

Wow, this was enthralling. This book suffered a bit of middle-book-syndrome in that there was less action and more build-up for the third book, but that didn’t really have a negative impact for me.

I actually really appreciated how it focused on planning, since a plan like Nova’s really can’t be rushed. It focused a lot on character and relationship development and really makes you love and feel for all of them. Even with the lack of battles compared to the first book, it never once felt slow.

Once we have total power, what's to keep us from becoming villains ourselves?
