Objectively this was a good prequel/sequel (prequel, but don’t read it first). I just don’t think it was needed. We Were Liars was special in its uniqueness, atmosphere, and shock factor in such a short book. Whereas this seemed to try to copy it, but ended up being way too similar in concepts and plot, and just tainted what the first book set out to do in my opinion. 

It was neat to see things from the perspective of the three sisters and see why they were the way they were. But all in all this book felt like a classic case of “the first book got popular, so let’s make an unnecessary sequel”.

Fun lil beach read - I loved the show we were liars and had to see what the mothers did. Not as shocking as we were liars and it felt kinda predictable but still enjoyed it idk
