If you want to be gutted, just rate this book. It's painful. It's beautiful. It'll whack you in the face with reveals it does everything a book should that includes an unreliable narrator. Why is Carrie an unreliable narrator? Because she lies and so I'm like thinking one thing and then later on the book she's like but wait a minute. She omitted and switched around some things because she didn't want her deceased son to see the bad side of her. So is that a mother protecting her image to her son her ghost son? Or is she simply just too scared to tell the truth? And I think that's what these books are about is that people are scared to tell the truth because they don't want others to see them differently. Because the Sinclair's wouldn't be caught not being perfect. They sweep their messes under the rugs and forget about them. People pass away and then move on. Crazy things happen on the island and they cover it up. That's just the Sinclair way. And the more worried about this family, the more I realize why Cadence doesn't want to inherit the family because I wouldn't either. So wow! Get another book blowing me away and making me cry.

Es hat mich viel mehr mitgenommen als we were liars also der Vorgänger. Die Story ist ziemlich interessant und man kann richtig mitfiebern gegen Ende. Die Besonderheit, weshalb dieses Buch wirklich 5 Sterne verdient hat ist, dass ich die Charaktere blöd fand. Ich habe einen richtigen Hass gegen manche Personen in der Geschichte entwickelt und war erst unzufrieden mit dem ganzen Buch, bis mir aufgefallen ist, dass die Charaktere gerade deswegen so menschlich wirkten. Alle hatten ihre Fehler und Macken oder Angewohnheiten, wodurch sie teilweise nachvollziehbar, teilweise komplett bescheuert auf mich wirkten.
