Hmm. This book had a compelling plot (Think Wall-E meets Brave New World) and was not badly written. It did have a few things in it that bothered me, like fake cussing, nudity, murder, suicide, a near-rape scene, and [b:Brave New World|5129|Brave New World|Aldous Huxley|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327865608s/5129.jpg|3204877]-esque "mating" scenes. None of this was written in a way meant to be offensive, but I disliked it and would have been traumatized by it as a teen.

Still thinking about whether I'll be reading the next two installments . . . I feel kind of obligated to because the library bought them at my request. And I'm interested to find out how things go now that they've fixed all their problems and opened up a new can of worms. But I'm worried there will be more of the same content, or worse, so I'm putting it on hold for now.

Honestly I don’t know what to say about this book. It’s not bad, but will I read the other two? Probably not. I bought it when I was like 14 and it took me five years to finally decide to finish it. The story per se is pretty cool, and I’ve always loved dystopian/teen novels. But it’s just sooo slow, and then the end is way too fast. I hated the dialogs, I found them unrealistic and forced, even though the rest of the prose is very interesting. There’s this way of reproducing the sounds and the rhythm of the narrative with this unconventional writing style, and I’m not sure if I hated it or loved it. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad book, and maybe the second and the third are better. I don’t think I’ll read them soon, though.

2.5

Whoa. Ok so this book blew my mind. I have been wanting to read it for a while but I've been putting it off. So I found it at Goowill for cheap and decided to give it a go. Really great decision on my part wow. They said you get sucked in quick and they're not wrong. The universe of this story is amazing! I may have already ordered the second and third book :D

Really good

Dark. Dystopic. Not an ending I predicted.

I'm going to say 2.5 stars on this one. I didn't love this book but I didn't really hate it either. I felt like it just kind of fell flat. I didn't feel a whole lot of emotion with it although the storyline is interesting. Didn't love the characters, except Harley, I liked him. I'm not quite sure yet if I'll read the others, maybe if I'm really bored.

This is an amazing read. It ripped my heart out, and sent tingles up my spine as I'm a little claustrophobic. It deals with issues like truth and human interaction, as well as a what is the soul question running under the surface. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have to admit...I bought this book for the cover. 100% and whole heartedly for the cover.
The book did not live up to my expectations...I found it hard to follow and was very easily distracted from the story. Sad to say but true...LOVE the cover though!!!

This book was really interesting. I haven't read sci-fi in a little while, and initially I was a bit annoyed by the few slang words that were created (probably because I thought more were to come), but the story was really well done. Guessed part of the end, but not everything, so I was surprised by the end! I didn't really like Elder that much as a romantic interest for Amy, and I didn't really see any chemistry between the two, but I was really intrigued by Amy's situation. I'd recommend this book if you like sci-fi.
