good book. great vocab. but at times too complex to understand. i was hooked bc if the characters but sometimes the plot, the world didn’t feel explained enough. i know there’s lore bc i feel it in how the author writes but i wanted it to be better explained. good magic system tho

This book was nothing less than amazing. Why haven't I picked it up before? Well, I guess I didn't know I needed a sci-fi/ fantasy with necromancy, sword fights, sickening gore, terrifying horrors and deliciously dark humour. I did need it.

The book is filled with important details, a wide range of characters, surprising twists, turns and hidden gems, and my ADHD brain forced me to to stop up at times and re-read certain parts, but that's not a complaint. I'm often an impatient reader, so the fact that I'm invested enough to go back and re-read earlier patagraphs, is probably one of the best compliments I can give an author.

What more can I say? I loved this book. So good. Now, I'm diving into the next one in the series. I have no idea what will happen next, but I am certain that it will hurt, confuse me and amaze me. Can't wait.

This book was sold to me as lesbian necromancers explore a haunted palace in space and honestly, it delivered. It's funny, witty, uniquely written all while being dark and tense and mysterious. It's refreshing to see a very serious plot and characters in serious situations while they don't take themselves too seriously. And honestly, it was made to read too many actual internet memes embedded in the text. I both loved and hated it.

I love everything about this book. The narration is quick and witty; the author blends beautiful prose in with crass language.

This is a story about problems that could have been easily solved had any of the characters tried to communicate with each other, but it’s not a story that relies on miscommunication.

The cast of characters is memorable and (mostly) lovable. The setting is intriguing. And the magic system in this world is downright fascinating.

I cannot express how much I love this book short of a full fledged essay.

A murder mystery with necromancers and swords, and the main character is hilarious. Extremely good
