Amazing! Recommended by a friend so I went in barely knowing anything other than "fun lesbian warrior and with  magic" and I had such a great time listening to this one! Moira Quirk is an INCREDIBLE narrator, I wish I could give more stars just for her. Looking forward to reading more in this series!

Bloody damn awesome

Too stunned to give a long drawn out review. I'll just say it's got necromancers, sword fighting, and a incredibly awesome mystery that'll keep you guessing until the end.
Best book I've read this year.

No pun intended but I spaced out while listening to this—it was more of a background noise while I did other things. I know there was necromancers and their guards (cavaliers), but that’s about all I remember from the plot. When I did tune in, I laughed quite a bit—lots of wit and sarcasm. The narrator did a superb job with voices and bringing the characters to life.

I can’t decide whether I loved or hated this book. I went back and forth multiple times while I read it. Initially it felt like it was trying too hard to be dark and gritty. However, once the plot picked up, I got wrapped up in the mystery and the mechanics of necromancy. By the end though, I was annoyed with the flatness of the characters and the still unnecessarily dark tone.

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did.
It's wacky, weird, dark and twisted in the best way!

The best way I can explain the plot is there's a competition, a murder mystery plot and there's a big bad battle at the end.
I think the authors mind is amazing, how they possibly crafted such a unique dark world and story is complexing to me.

I didn't expect to like so many characters, I loved Gideon, I loved Harrow, I loved Palamidis and Camilla and Magnus and the french teens. They were all weird, complicated and hilarious.

I am definitely going to continue the series,  I need to know what happens next and I need to know now!

I am not a big fantasy reader but when a friend recommended this and said lesbian necromancers in space I had to give it a shot! I think because I'm not a big fantasy reader it took me a little while to figure out what was going on and how to keep track of everyone but once I did I really enjoyed the story. I think it was a little long but since it is a series they are setting the world up for future stories as well. The best part about the whole story is Gideon herself. If you like snarky, sarcastic, spunky leads then you will love Gideon. Her interactions with everyone are hilarious but especially her relationship with Harrow.
