First and foremost, MY HEART HURTSSSSSSSS

Following Gideon in this journey was so comical with her himbo ways and I really enjoyed Gideon interact with all the other characters. All the House pairs were all nicely written and had their own unique dynamics that were both enjoyable and left me wrecked all at the same time. Watching Gideon's relationship with Harrowhark change and grow throughout the story was an honest treat, these two ladies are great on their own but amazing together.

I did find it a slog to get through the first Act, there is a lot of world building and vocabulary that is dropped immediately onto you with little time to fully understand what is happening. But after pushing through that portion, the rest of the world building felt very natural and layered on each other. Though, at the end of the day, I was not crazy about the world, I had such a hard time comprehending the futuristic and modern aspects of the systems that went hand in hand with very archaic items sporadically mentioned throughout.

All in all, a wonderful read and I can't wait t get my hands on the sequel!

The style of writing kept throwing me out of my groove. The mix of modern slang and high fantasy/sci fi also did not jive with me. I still have the book and I might still give it a try another time
