Very good book!!!! The ending was SHOCKING!!!! Made up for the slow middle chunk of the book, almost gave it up in the midst of “we need to tell the cops” “no we can’t” drama between Owen and Liz. Glad I toughed it out!
Not my favorite from this author
I liked the baseline of this book, it seemed to drag and become repetitive at times. The ending didn't really close the story for me either, I still want to know what happened.

This was very captivating but equally frustrating. There are so many moments that everyone should have behaved differently. I know those choices would have eliminated the story but the characters making the wrong choices over and over was so frustrating.
Excellent
Extremely engaging story that kept me glued until the end. I highly recommend it! It’s not a deep story but it shows how much we don’t really know people.

Unlikeable Characters
I really thought this could have been a great story but it's hard to truly enjoy a book when there is not one single likeable character in it. If you don't care at all about any of the characters, there is really just no point.
We don't get to know Charlie at all so it's not even like we're invested in what happens to him other than a general sense of disgust at what the adults do.
The shallow, ugly people created in this book make for an uninteresting read that you continue just to see who is going to discover the extremely predictable ending.

I've said it before - I love Gregg Olsen's writing. I've been a fan of his True Crime books for awhile and am only just starting to read some of his fiction. His True Crime reads like fiction and his fiction reads like True Crime. I don't know - it's a special kind of talent that he somehow can make either a gripping, page-turning, un-put-downable read. I think I'd read anything he writes.
