I feel like my rating is influenced by listening rather than reading this. Yes, it’s hard to follow with all the Aurelianos and Jose Arcadios and Amarantas. Yes, there is a purpose to that. It all comes together in such a stunning way. But listening to it felt like reading classic literature for school when you’re just a bit too young for it: it’s just a bit out of reach so although you can see that it’s interesting and beautiful and well written, you can’t connect to it. I will definitely have to reread this. I assume my rating will go up when that happens.
