This is one of those books where the less you know going into it, the better. I did read the back cover blurb before starting it and although the plot summary is accurate, the novel still went in a totally different direction than I thought it would. It's surprising, twisty, compelling, and compulsively readable. I really liked it, but again, it was not at all what I expected it to be.

Felt like a rip-off of The Institute and not in a good way. Could have used a healthy dose of editing.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC!*

I went into this without reading many reviews (because the first review I read saw it was best to go in blind!), this is one that I'm not sure I would've picked up if I had read the other reviews first. It was fine - not bad, not great, just fine - and with a list of books to be read that is hundreds of books long, I likely wouldn't have read it if I had read similar reviews first. The story was okay - I was definitely hooked at the beginning! - but again, nothing stunning. Quick read!

Let’s play a game of war...

In a world of mystery books with titles like the girl from here, the woman from there, this girl, that girl... and you see this book and think it’s going to be like one of those, let me just stop you now.

This book is nothing what it seems. (Honestly it really needs different cover art) More science fiction than anything else, you feel transported into a world like the twilight zone or fringe.

“In the darkness I see the universe, and it continues to shrink around me. It collapses in on itself, into a singularity which this place. Right here, now, this very point in time.”

When Jacob boards the plane to head to a ghostwriting job that will help pay for his daughters injuries and hopefully save his marriage, he sits next to a girl that is all too familiar.

Clara has been having very strange thoughts lately that she doesnt understand. When she boards the plane and sits next to Jacob, she can’t but feel like they know eachother from somewhere but she mustn’t be distracted from her goal.

The set up for a action packed, unsuspectingly sci-fi story that will have you turning pages for hours even into the night not realizing what time it is... book lol

I finished and said aloud, “This was fun!” Sure, I saw all of the twists coming, but it was a fun read and the writing was thrilling. I would’ve finished this in one sitting if I hadn’t had other commitments.

Fast read, but I did struggle a bit to get into it. I also figured some things out just past the halfway mark. Definitely worth the read.
