What a journey this trilogy has been. When I realized I had missed the debut of this wrapping up of the story dove in and well dang Kenzie has grown and dang has this crew gone through it. I meann this summary by Rune as they were about to go off and do something else reckless to save the day sums it up: "We escaped a supposedly inescapable prison. We defeated a horde of alien invaders and stole their spaceship. We escaped another prison on Mars. We survived a team of nasty bounty hunters. “We escaped another exploding ship to travel to an alternate dimension, and then we survived a plot to kill us.”
They have been the heck through it and this one has them on an alternate dimension bc why not throw that in there. I like that since Kenzie can pull from people's powers we really get a sense of what everyone's powers are. Mia's invisibility and Cage's speed, Jasper's ability to move objects, Alexis' strength and Rune's ability to connect with tech and electricity. It was dope to see the different ways they had to use their powers to survive and ooh Eden was a triflin new character who while used for her purpose also felt underutilized. The aliens continue to the creepiest and that Kenzie was able to tap into their hive mind and figure out that if they didn't kill the big bad then they were just gonna continue destroying Earth and Mars. Badass bby Rune doing her part to save the dang day as well as Alexei like it had been a while since I'd read the first 2 so felt a bit detached at first but the ease with which we're reminded of the wild shit these folks have gone through you understand their ride or die mentality. Fuck omnistellar to the very ends of the earth tho like so glad Kenzie and everyone in the crew is aware of the fuckery that is corporations trying to hold control or power when these kids that you called literal abominations and had imprisoned saved the day. I loved that they Hallam, Matt, Priya and ofc Cage and Kenzie were like yeah let's make some moves to take them down bc we know they're still imprisoning people like us. Would love an enovella as a final piece of that adventure lol
