Like an insane sci fi version of “Office Space”. Amazing. No notes.

Robots will lead the labor revolution…

This book was short but somehow fit so much. The prose was so rich and evocative it felt like poetry at times. Worth a read for the writing alone, and the exploration of work and human nature only enhances the book.

I think the book partly pokes fun at people who associate so fully with their job it becomes their only identity (“There’s more to a person than the work they do, or A person is more than just their work? Something like that. But what else could a person be? Where would your food come from? Who would keep you company? How would you get by without work and without your coworkers?”) and partly pokes fun at our willingness to call out AI/Automation but not CEOs etc.

Interestingly this book reminded me a bit of Severance as productivity continues in the face of apocalypse,  and people slowly realize they are trapped or doomed to repeat the same cycles.

despite how short this is i did not go in expecting to finish in one sitting but…. wowie. sooooo bjork coded. had no idea wtf was going on (in the best way) for half of this but by the middle had a pretty clear idea where it was going as this really is a tale as old as time (machines) so docking a star for built up suspense followed by a pretty predictable ending however! this was gorgeously written, unexpectedly funny, and literally could not put down

“is this a human problem? if so, id like to keep it.”
