I walked around with this tiny book in my purse for two days so I could read Neruda's words. I won't deny that it felt incredibly cheesy at first but, apparently, I'm a sucker for his love poems. It was beautiful to be able to read them in their original Spanish and see Neruda's love for Matilde Urrutia flow through this pages.

This book had really sweet poems. I enjoyed reading it. My favourite one was "laughter". I don't know why but I like to read poetries about someone's laughter or smile. Maybe I imagine someone saying those poetries to me??? (Just a hopeless romantic
Neruda's sensuality oozes even in the English translation. Reading him reminds me of a looking at a Rodin sculpture. I wish I was fluent in Spanish and could read the original text. A quick sweet reading experience.

I haven't given this a star rating because it's a very short little book, but Neruda's poetry is lovely. The words are relatively simple but I think that only contributes to the beauty that he conveys. You can tell he truly loved this woman. If a man ever wrote me poetry like this, I'd straight-up marry him. Hell, if a man ever just read me Neruda's poems I'd probably marry him.
"Epithalamium" ("Epitalamio" en español) is one of the standouts in this collection. Breathtaking.
Really lived up to the reputation, and love the bilingual layout of this edition.

This is my first time reading Neruda's poems and I fall into a swoon after reading each one. The love poems talk about longing, desire, and the omnipresent feeling of bliss when one is in love. The romantic potency of each poem made me reminisce about those times when I was in the throes of romantic fixation. Crazy and intense, yes, but the fall is as intense.
