Really enjoyed the first half but then it felt like a different book altogether. Slightly rushed, the writing of Lila felt hollow, and it just seemed very out there for what happens to Joe. It would’ve been at least a 4 if the author was consistent with the writing in the first half.

Not my cup of tea. I was annoyed by the young MC who acted immature too many times and acted without thinking too many times as well. The plot was also predictable. I was hoping for a new series I could get into but this wasn't it for me.

The first half of this book drew me in with it's complicated story line and compelling characters. The second half was something I wasn't expecting based on the books description, filled with twists and turns that kept my attention. I really enjoyed the characters and the way the author made you really think about morals and humanity in its darkest moments.

This thriller was incredible, but definitely intense (it deals with sexual crimes like r*pe and sexual assault, so it could be a heavy read for those who have experienced said violence). The main characters, Joe especially, kept me sucked into the novel, and overall, I loved the way he kept fighting to find out the truth and bring justice to the woman and man who were wronged. A really great thriller in my opinion.

Loveable characters and a quick page turner. The main plot points were predictable, but the stakes were high enough to maintain interest.
Also, a bit ridiculous the police didn’t think to stake outside Joe and Lila’s apartment building after the initial murder attempt.
