3.5 stars. I liked the book but it wasn't as good as the first one. It still broke my heart that Trip and Lay-Lay can never end up together. It just sucks that after everything and almost a decade apart, they can never find the right time. Reality blows.

Ugh, are you kidding me!

description

Still lots of words and little content that somehow manage to keep my interest.

I still don't get why
Layla was so adamant to stay engaged to a guy she doesn't actually love. I get she didn't think Trip wanted anything serious and long lasting with her, but still. That's no reason for settling for a lukewarm, sorta loveless marriage. And don't get me started on Trip's stupidity and childishness. Proposing to his uninterested, selfish girlfriend as revenge? Seriously? Such petty behavior. I'm disappointed.

The cliffhanger definitely made me want to read book 3.

This book just struck me again as so real. The characters, the dialogue, the situations...so blessedly normal, but intriguing. And Trip, my heart breaks for him. One inefficient lady, and his whole life gets altered.

Cliche but here I am, continuing to read

I am not going to act like I didn't see that ending coming, but I did, since this is trilogy.

It was sort of painful seeing what became of Layla. I was so excited when she got her second chance and reconnected with Tripp. But, in true Layla fashion, she makes her decisions based on her head and not her heart.

I liked that we got to catch up with some of the gang. It was fun to see what became of all those characters from the pervious book, and of course, spending time with Tripp.

Happy that I will get to start the next book immediately, because the drama was pretty high at the end of this book.

I don't think the sequel quite captured the magic the way the first book did for me. We begin to see vulnerable side of Trip. I would've much preferred that he remained a mystery now because his insecurities was a little off-putting, in my opinion. I'm about to continue with Book 3, and I am anticipating a less sober Trip Wiley in the last instalment of this series. The Alcoholic Trip is inevitable and also very predictable. I'm willing to bet my two cents on that. The ending was anti-climactic for me too. I am not a big fan of cliffhangers. Book 1 left me wanting more, but at least the bittersweet ending gave me a sense of closure and, as a reader, I was genuinely looking forward to watching these characters grow up. The ending to this book, however...I just don't see the point in prolonging it. Could've just ended it there. I didn't think the added drama was necessary.
