I thought I'd read the entire Adrian Mole series but this book rings no bells so clearly I missed it. Nowhere near as good as the rest of the series, sadly!
funny lighthearted

Once again Sue Townsend has provided me with words to live by, a mantra for the hard times, if you will and it is: “On such occasions I count my blessings. 1: I’m alive. 2: I’m almost healthy. 3: I’m not in a car on the Birmingham Inner Ring Road.”

Not much plot, and it bounced a lot as compared to the first two. Still love Sue Townsend's sense of humour but this book just didn't fit.

Disappointing. I have loved the first two books, but there is too little of the old Adrian in this.
I doubt anyone actually reads all the othe guff included in this edition to pad it out either.

I've previous read some of this book as the Mole parts are included in Adrian Mole From Minor To Major. They work better in that context - in this short book it's clear that these pieces were never intended to be published together and the Susan Lillian Townsend/Margaret Hilda Roberts parts broke the flow of the Mole series for me. That said, Sue Townsend can do no wrong for me, so still an entertaining enough read.

Unlike the first book or two, I found nothing likeable. Adrian is a curmudgeon worse than Victor Meldrew. Maybe if I had read this as a standalone, or not right after the very witty ones, I might have at least not disliked it. But I had to force my way through it. This is one I will not pick up again.
