It really bugs me that I read the third book before the second. But, aside from knowing what was in the second book, this one stood well on its own. I am a sucker for historical mysteries. Throw in a well-known person from the past and I'm lovin it. It was a good read when you need that short book that is just a little different. Dino is an apprentice to Leonardo da Vinci. But, there is just one little problem... Dino is actually Delfina, a girl. Nonetheless, she remains a favorite apprentice of da Vinci. In this book, her father, a master carpenter, comes to help da Vinci create his flying machine. Only Dino and Tito are the apprentices who are aware of this creation. But, Constantin, another apprentice is suddenly murdered. The hunt is on to find the murderer of Constantin who was trying to warn da Vinci of something in his dying moments. It seems that the flying machine is a sought after contraption. My only problem is that I felt like I was left wondering about one character. At this point, there is no book four, so I am curious as to the resolution behind this part of the story. Still a great story, regardless.
