Its so frustrating when a book that could have been “ok” decides to add random porn and misogyny. It wasnt very interesting and then every few chapters you have to sit through the author being a creep and adding nothing to the story.

This is oftentimes a fairly dubious of attitude novel. But it was also written 56 years ago and is where horses heads in people's beds, sleeping with the fishes and making an offer he can't refuse all come from. I have a lot of time for books that are fun to read, and to be entertained by mafia bosses and the five families. Also, I am very much someone who enjoys a bit of vengeance. And okay this is a few divisions off being in the same league as The Count of Monte Cristo (my favourite grudge holder) but I love Vito Corleone, the same way I love Tony Soprano. In many ways (ie in all the ways) I much prefer their ethics to those of say pretty much every politician who has ever lived. 4/5 (even with a very unnecessary storyline about a surgery that I did not need to read about, nor Michael's sinus problems)

I saw the movie first.

Super relatable as the youngest son in an Italian family
