Very readable, but the author seems to have a complete nervous breakdown in the middle, and still continues with the self help project without highlighting seeking professional help.

Listened to this as an audiobook and really enjoyed it. Entertaining and thoughtful. Loved the cameos from her mother.

A good light weekend read. Very Bridget Jones-y, except these are all real people. She did sone wild stuff in her experiment, but the underlying mental health/self care/self acceptance issues that drive the self-help book industry was the reason I enjoyed the book. If you liked Bridget Jones and/or Eat Pray Love, than you may enjoy this book, if either of those are not your cup of tea, you won’t.

I found this an easy read (got through it in a day). I felt like I was the Author at many points where it related to my own self-help experiences. It remained authentic and provided great reflections on my own journey.
A memoir about Marianne's exploration into using self help books to improve every aspect of her life. This book is a humorously written look at what can happen when you decide to implement the life improvement tips you have gathered from reading numerous self help books into a self improvement mission. I am a huge fan of self help books myself and have often found some helpful tips in each one I have read but have never thought to combine them all together to become thankfully! This book is so relatable to fans of self help books, without taking away from the fact that they can be quite helpful tools to anyone trying to improve themselves in anyway. I found myself nodding along in agreement and laughing out loud in several parts of Marianne's journey of self discovery. The big takeaway I took from reading this is to not take self help books too seriously and to not lose the people who mean the most to you in your quest for self perfection. An excellent read. #mariannepower #helpme #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookstagram #goodreads #amazon#kindle #bookqueen #greatreads #redbubble

Sometimes I think a book just comes into your life when you need to read it and thus book was just that. If I wasn't taking part in the #helpmereadalong I think I would have read this in one sitting. Fantastically written I think everyone should read this especially if like me you are approaching 30 or struggling with depression!

I wandered into a bookstore for an hour, looking for a book to buy my friend for her birthday. She’s really good at finding gems for me and I wanted to do the same. I must have picked up & put down 20 books. At one point, I was carrying 5 with me. And then, I saw this book and read the blurb and I was sold on it. I gave it to my friend who read it and said it was marvellous and she in turn loaned it to me. And I was totally blown away by how much I loved this book! Loved it! It was funny and sad and inspiring and entertaining.
