I read this book many years ago (about 20 years ago, when I was in college) and it has stuck with me vividly this whole time. It was beautiful. It was terrible. And I loved it.

The imagery is awesome. I can still picture Tess in the field with Alex feeding her strawberries. and Angel, carrying her across the stream, and Tess, milking cows. And Stonehenge. I will never not think of Tess while picturing Stonehenge. Ah. All the feels, as the kids say these days.

When I was in college, I had a pair of anglefish sharing a bowl, one mostly white and one mostly black, and named them Angel and Alec. They had an interesting yin-yang pattern quality on the two fish. It was awesome. I should re-read it. Now where did I put my copy?
