I loved this book, but what I hated was how stupid gender social standards were. I spent the whole time reading the book and feeling so so sorry for Tess and the situations and ignorance (societal and her own lack of education) that made her life so horrible. Truly tragic.

Me llevo impresiones mixtas con esta novela. Por no señalar lo evidente (Hardy escribe maravillosamente, la obra es un clásico...), diré que es una historia que conmueve pero a la que le falta grandeza, quizás demasiado culebrón para mi gusto.

What an emotional roller coaster!!! Poor Tess just could not catch a break all because she was constantly forced to deal with the repercussions of other people's actions. I guess the ending was satisfying (for me), because she finally took matters into her own hands and was in no way afraid of those consequences.
