City Lovers

I love how this was the anti hallmark romance, it is fine to love the city and it's fine to love your job, not everyone needs to have kids and live in a farm.
I love Charlie and Nora as individuals and as a couple, they seemed very realistic to me. The only thing I wasn't so sure about was the sister buy it was ok too.

I LOVED THIS-
I really thought that they weren't gonna end up together because I haven't read Emily Henry's writing before. However I am so glad I was wrong, loved it

Loved it. A lighthearted page turner without the usual tropes….except that Nora (the main character) is somewhat living out all the tropes. Could not get enough. Loved the witty banter and the way I felt engrossed in this story. 5/5

Really enjoyed reading this book! I had a hard time putting it down! And the ending was perfect.

Checked off all the items on my Romance I'd Read checklist:
1. spicy-- the spice between Nora and Charlie was explosive, yet tasteful ;-)
2. a sprinkle of heart-wrenching
3. substance beneath and beyond the "love conquers all/love will find a way" trope that makes me cynical and gag

I can write an essay on the ways in which Henry cleverly subverts some commonly sexist (but still widely used and highly bought) tropes and archetypes in the romance genre. It's brilliant and cheeky and bold. Needless to say, pretty sure I've just joined the Emily Henry book cult.

*Minus .25 because there were some times where Nora just really irked me

This was such a feel-good read and I loved Charlie's misunderstood personality. This also combines two of my personal loves: small towns in North Carolina & NYC. Add it to your TBR as a pool or beach read.
