This is a sweet story that isn't too predictable. I may have enjoyed the food descriptions more than the story.

This was a cute little read but It didn't blow me away. I had a fun time but there were some issues that kept me from rating it too high.
First, the dialogue. It wasn't awful or anything but there were several times where I was just saying to myself "no one talks like that". Not in an overly dramatic way but more of a stilted way. It wasn't relaxed or natural like dialogue should be, especially in a contemporary novel. There was one particular moment where one of Theo's relatives was being white-guy racist talking about how he doesn't eat the type of food Dylan's aunt makes because he and his wife like to 'eat clean' and avoid MSG and Theo gave the most textbook-geek, performative speech debunking the racists myth around MSG and it was so cringey it almost took me out.
There were also a few dumb decisions that kinda got to me.The one that sticks out the most is that when Theo's father threatens their relationship they decide to 'fake-hate' each other to get him to leave them alone, only for Theo to go back on that like the next day?? And decide they're 'not gonna hide anymore' as if nothing would come of this? And then when Theo's father ACTUALLY threatens Dylan's family's restaurant they're all surprised about it? Like we ESTABLISHED this was going to happen, that's why you came up with the fake-hate thing in the first place? Did you think he'd suddenly change his mind? Stupid.
It was nice to learn a bit about Chinese food and history in some moments but overall this book didn't really keep my attention. The cooking parts especially were dragging by the end and I just started skimming them. I could see why people would like this book but it's not for me.

This book is a really typical romance book that you'll find between 2 people of different socioeconomic classes. There's quite a few tropes that were used in the book and I can't say that there was anything interesting done with it. What this book does have going for it though is the gay romance where the fact that they're gay doesn't really come into conflict here, nor there's any portion about coming out.
I also thought that most of the book especially the last 40% or so were really predictable.
I do really appreciate the highlighting of Singaporean and Malaysian culture in this book. Definitely highlights quite a bit of our cuisines and cultural norms that's quite nice to read.

Tenemos un instant love, pero más que instant love, diria que fue atracción, de ahí, se fuerón enamorando, asi que si me molesta ver reseñas decir que es aburrido, la historia se siente cálida, cómoda y se siente como un retelling de crazy, rich asians, pero versión MLM.
Si quieres un ritmo cozy, romántico, y algunos cliches para tener una lectura fácil y tranquila, este es el libro, me gusto mucho la manera de escribirlo, todo el tiempo fue fácil sentirme dentro de una pelicula. Ahora, me hubiera gustado un poco mas de intensidad en el romance y un poco más de desarrollo de personaje para el ricachon jsdjsnjdfn, porque siento que lo vemos igual en todo el libro y si necesitaba algunos cambios, pero no arruina el libro. Respecto a la cultura asiática, no puedo decir nada, no es mi cultura, pero aprendí algunas cosas y estaban contadas de manera entretenida y se me antojaron los pastelitos de luna.

En este libro tenemos a Dylan un estudiando que ayuda a su tia en un restaurante de comida china, el cual está teniendo problemas económicos y debido a una entrega mal hecha conoce a Theo, quien queda flechado por Dylan y comienza a verlo más seguido, al punto de hacerle una generosa, muy generosa, donación al restaurante de su tía. Cómo Dylan no quiere quedar en deuda con Theo, este le ofrece que sea su novio falso en la boda de su prima, y esté acepta. Además de todo eso, Dylan está preparándose para competir en un concurso de pastelitos de luna que bien podría salvar el restaurante de su tía.
Lo primero es que este libro me dió ganas de comer pastelitos de luna. Y nunca los he comido pero ahora quiero comerlos solo por esto.
Es un libro realmente adorable, muy adictivo, de no haber sido por el poco tiempo que tengo libro me habría devorado este libro. Es demasiado adictivo, entras en el y no quieres salir. Los personajes son divertidos y faciles de leer. Tiene el cliche de fake dating, una sola cama, insta-love y otro que no diré porque es spoiler.
Pero si quieres un libro que te caliente el corazón y puedas leer en un día o dos. Este es el libro. Tiene drama pero el justo, tiene amor pero no empalagoso, es todo en una medida justa.
Me gustó mucho.
No tiene cinco estrellas porque realmente no es un libro que recuerde en un tiempo.

—Se alinean de vez en cuando —señala la tía Jade—. Los eclipses son bastante memorables.
