This book dragged, as if the author lost her way, and wasn't confident in her story any longer. The storyline and emotions were not consistent.

I got through chapter 9, and found i was able to skip to the last chapter without feeling like i missed all that much. Anything i did miss was quickly explained such that i felt no need to look back.

I'm a huge fan of Lauren Kate's "Fallen" Series... unfortunately "Teardrop" and "Waterfall" don't have the same effect and are rather disappointing with a slow plot and hard to keep up storyline.

However, "Waterfall" was a vast improvement on "Teardrop" which was incredibly boring and dull and made me hesitant to even want to read "Waterfall".

Lauren Kate had some great ideas... Gossip Witches, Robots, quirks but she couldn't pull it all together like she did with "Fallen".

We didn't get to see the picture or idea of Atlantis, we are flitting around from one place to another never getting the surroundings or environment explained to us, both books had the potential to be a great but just didn't quite get there for me.

I loved this book but was happy/sad about the ending. I can honestly say I don’t know why so many people were confused with the ending of this book… it’s pretty clear that Eureka basically had to sacrifice herself to make amends for her tears by taking over atlas it is clear that she is dead and it is also clear that brooks sacrificed himself to help Eureka at the end. As far as ander goes there was always a bit of a love triangle there she loved both the boys and you could tell in both the first and second book that she did it wasn’t that she forgot ander but she knew that in order to fulfill her destiny that she couldn’t keep ander and she brought brooks back thinking she wouldn’t have him either. What is so confusing? But all around it was amazing and I’m curious when the author said trilogy if she meant the other book part of the series as the third book.

Teen Reviewer: Austin M.
Age: 16
Title: Waterfall
Author: Lauren Kate
Student Review: Waterfall is the second book of the series, the first being Teardrop. The series itself is about a girl named Eureka who, if she cries, and three tears hit the ground, will destroy the world. The first weakens some kind of seal, the second floods the earth, and the third awakens Atlas, the main antagonist, who, after reading through the series, has no connection to the Greek Titan Atlas. Two teardrops already fell, the third having been "caught" by the boy she loves. Waterfall is not a standalone book, but it tries to be by setting a story up that sounds like it's the only book in the series, but ends with you tossing the book in a fire. There's too much that the author never explains at all. At first, you would think that, of course a book, would be confusing if you have not read the first book. But that is not the case here. I found and read both books in order, and neither of them made any sense. For instance, one character had a weapon made out of a special ore called orichalcum that was originally a spear in the first book, but then it's an anchor in the next book. The only explanation is just because the character wants to. Waterfall sets itself up to be an epic tale where a girl sets off on an adventure to stop an evil tyrant from taking over what's left of the world. But, in reality, it's one of the worst cliche love stories I've ever read, where the girl, who had been taught not to cry her entire life by her mother, who ended up dying (need I say, the girl didn't cry at the funeral), and then she cries when she sees her father getting beat up.
Grade range:13+
Genre: Romance, sci-fi
Recommendation: The worst- Don't read this book.

Waterfall was just as good as Teardrop, but also much better.

Eureka and Ander's story continues, and family and close friends get a lot more involved.

I read Waterfall in a day, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

I thought the plot was a lot better than Teardrop's one, and I was hooked the whole time. However, I read the ending in a haze, not quite comprehending what happened.
SpoilerSomeone tell me, did Eureka just DIE?!!

Overall, I really enjoyed Waterfall, and I can't wait for book 3! This is my third Lauren Kate book, and I've enjoyed all three. I can't wait to read the Fallen series as well.

At first I wanted to give this at least a two star rating because the book DOES have interesting concept and I think I keep holding onto the fact I really loved book one. Somehow I knew I wouldn't like this. I put off reading this for THREE years. It's sat on my shelf and I was never super interested in finding out more, but at the same time I wanted to know more on the year stuff. Unfortunately this book felt like it was much longer than it should be. I understand why, it's legitimately a completely different world (in fact there's two) than the WHOLE first book. Perhaps that's why I didn't love it? There was so much time spent in this book learning everything from scratch (because no one explained shit the book before).

There was so many characters and things happening, but it ended up feeling super slow paced and while I sort of liked the ending, I didn't like the vast majority of this book. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE it, it just really wasn't for me. And I was super upset about the Andre/Brooks crap and the ending was weird and everyone getting powers was weird. And that's mainly how I felt about the book. It was ALL weird. It wasn't like the first book, the new stuff was just all weird.

I couldn't finish it because I was so bored I liked the fallen series but this series is to slow for me which is a shame.
