A compelling fable of civil disobedience, especially interesting to read with the context of its era, author, and region in mind.

Hilarious. Alternatingly lyrical and crass, a classic masterpiece, at once a riveting and humourous portrait of the post-Vietnam American Southwest.

I recently reread Desert Solitaire, a book I love by this author. That prompted me to give this one a try, but it didn't hold my interest. I see that some readers say it's more like comic book and I can see the resemblance. The story line follows a group of eco-terrorists who are committing acts of sabotage (blowing up bridges, dams, and construction equipment) as a means of protesting the destruction of the wilderness in the desert canyonlands of Utah.
