Intricate, multi-layered, emotional. No romance, but full of love. Give yourself the time to read this slowly, it's worth it.

I pitied the most powerful man in the world for in his tragedy he was the most miserable of them all.
I loved this book. I especially loved the first 400 pages that made me squeal and chuckle and blush and question just how naturally it was built despite me coming into this first thinking it will be a light romantasy 3* story - but it wasn‘t light, romantasy and neither low rating.
The first 400 books were straight up 5*. The next 200 were like 4.75*, it sort of lost me on the last two hundred pages because the coziness of the first half dissipated, his Radiancy went for most of the time off screen, plenty stories were repeated and I just didn‘t vibe with what the family was talking about.
I do think I was absolutely gaslighted for the first half of the book thinking it will end up in them kissing because THE SIGNS were CLEAR. T.T

I guess I don’t like cozy fiction. Too perfect, too utopian, no nuance.

This exploration of friendship, duty and identity is beautiful and brought me to tears multiple times.
