I'm astounded at how good this book is. I seldom give 5 stars, but it's warranted.
I was exceedingly heartbroken and furious to the point of boiling for about 99.9% of the book, and it was perfect.
Read this, and get mad.

I absolutely despised the first 50% and loved every word of the second. I simply cannot believe how stark the difference was. Every interaction between scientists in the first half: bad, smugly written, my head has been squished to pulp with the hammer of SEXISM BAD IN THE 50S. Every interaction between any other combo of people in the second: not that.

But the dog and the precocious child. Why. Why those things.
