Best of the series so far. Totally get the hype, totally love it and have fallen for Cassian.

👏🏻 Finally 👏🏻 some 👏🏻 LGBTQ+👏🏻 representation 👏🏻 Half way through reading this I decided to go on the hunt for a different book/series. I craved something with as much adventure and lovable characters but with queer characters/protagonists. However, in finishing the book it seems Maas finally decided to give us some queer characters after all (even though it did feel like she just launched them all within the final third of this book). I actually audibly cheered at the line
  “ because …I prefer females” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I absolutely love the characters in this series, I think they’re mainly what keeps me going with the books but, my GOD, the writing can get extremely tedious at times. The same irks I found with the first few books in the series have, unfortunately, remained and if I read the following phrases again I may scream:

“her/his mouth became a thin line”

“my bowels turned watery”

“the wood groaned beneath him /them/it”

“his eye whirred”

and so many more I couldn’t keep track 🤦🏻‍♀️

There were even a few times that had me questioning the grammar tbh but here I am powering through. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I do wish we could have been left on a bit more of a cliffhanger too. I don’t really feel compelled to immediately start the next book as I have previously.

I feel like the end of the book could have had more development time. There were lots of very big things happening and the stakes did not feel genuine and the consequences were lacking. But over all this book made me fall in love with so many side characters that it's almost obscene.

This book has the most plot development in the series but it is very long. The beginning hooks you in, the middle can be a little boring, but the end of this book is amazing.
