Not a patch on Three Men In A Boat. But a very nice place to visit. This is a collection of short pieces that alternate tone between humorous and sentimental. Made me look up what an Ulster is (an article of clothing): man's overcoat with a short cape attached. Considered heavy duty daytime wear, not formal. Thank you wikipedia.

“Празни мисли на един празен човек” - книга, която няма да забравя дълго време.
Толкова разкрит екзистенциализъм, пречупен през призмата на сатирата. “Празни мисли”, овековечени през далечния 19. век, а човек и днес открива себе си, своите интимни мисли и душевен гнет в тях. И сякаш те за малко намират покой. Ще се препрочита!

Not as funny as his other books but still a good read, my favourite chapters were "on Cats and Dogs", "On Furnished Apartments", "On Being Shy" and "On Memory".

The books seems to be written for a male audience but that didn't bother me, some of the ideas are obviously outdated but the humour still hits home, but, as I said it's not quite as funny as "Three men on a boat (to say nothing of the dog" and "Three men on a bummel".

Oh my! How I have loved this book...an absolutely brilliant witty well written book. I wish everyone would read just to feel the words move you, with you, in you and all around you. Bravo Bravo Mr. Jerome, you are masterful. Thank you!

This book, I will read it again and again.

“What readers ask nowadays in a book is that it should improve, instruct and elevate. This book wouldn't elevate a cow. I cannot conscientiously recommend it for any useful purposes whatever. All I can suggest is that when you get tired of reading "the best hundred books," you may take this for half an hour. It will be a change."
