3'5.

A beautiful story about all different types of love and the battles we sometimes face in accepting it. Alire Sáenz reminds readers to never be ashamed of who or how we love.

The main character didn't feel like a real person to me somehow. I just didn't relate to his feelings.

This was sweet! It felt a bit angsty at times, but I imagine it’s hard to write a teenage coming-of-age novel without a good helping of angst. The mood did feel appropriate, especially considering the main character’s exploration and discovery of identity. The ending felt rushed; I would have liked a bit more for Ari and Dante and some resolution in the brother side plot. (I’ve just now learned there’s a sequel….) Overall, an enjoyable and quick read and well done on audio!
