absolutely thrilling. jodi meadows owns my ass. rune was so likable, hanne was so complex, nightrender was an amazing hero. the story’s twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and i found the lore/fantasy elements easily digestible (coming from someone who hates learning new fantasy world mechanics). unfortunately i read some negative reviews before finishing the book that influenced my thoughts — and i agree, some of the connective tissue in this story is missing, some explanations are clumsy, some minor plot points dropped — so i can’t give it a 5/5, but please believe me: this is worth the read. i had a PHYSICAL reaction to some of the plot twists, the horror, and of course, the romantic tension. i cannot wait for book 2!!!
